Anger is one of the most entertaining characters from Pixar's Inside Out, and now you can make your very own amigurumi Anger doll! He's fiery, outspoken, and quick to lose his temper, but his strong sense of fairness means he's always ready to stand up when something doesn't feel right.
After crocheting Sadness and Joy, I knew Anger needed a place in the collection too. With his bright red face, white shirt, and tiny tie, he's instantly recognizable and makes a fun addition to your Inside Out amigurumi collection. Whether you're making him for yourself, a fellow Inside Out fan, or a child who loves the movies, this little guy is sure to add some fiery personality to your collection.

- 3.0 mm crochet hook
- 6.0 mm safety eyes
- Polyester stuffing of your choice

Finished Size
- Finished amigurumi measures approximately 10 cm (4 inches) in height.
- Consider using a different yarn weight or category, and the appropriate hook size to make this project larger or smaller.

- st/sts - stitch/stitches
- ch - chain
- slst - slip stitch
- sc - single crochet (using the yarn under method)
- sc inc - single crochet increase, 2 single crochets in one stitch
- sc dec - single crochet decrease, single crochet 2 stitches together
- hdc - half double crochet
- dc - double crochet
- BLO - back loops only
- FLO - front loops only
Pattern Notes
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms.
- Complete the pieces in the specified order to ensure proper assembly later.
- I used the underside of the amigurumi hairpiece as the visible side, allowing the strands to naturally curl towards the face.
- Use the yarn under single crochet technique to achieve tighter, more aligned stitches.
- Learn how to seamlessly change color in crochet mid-row or round to create clean color transitions.
- Crochet in continuous spiral rounds. Do not join at the end of each round unless otherwise stated.
- Use a running stitch marker to keep your place when crocheting in rounds.
- Use the ultimate finish to neatly close up your amigurumi pieces.
- Use the invisible fasten-off method to create a smooth, knot-free edge that blends perfectly with your stitches.
- Optional: Use the invisible increase and invisible decrease to enhance the appearance of your amigurumi.
FREE Amigurumi Anger Doll Pattern
Head
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with red yarn...
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 sc (6 sts)
Round 2: Sc inc in each st around (12 sts)
Round 3: [Sc, sc inc] x 6 times (18 sts)
Round 4: [Sc, sc inc, sc] x 6 times (24 sts)
Round 5: [3 sc, sc inc] x 6 times (30 sts)
Round 6: [2 sc, sc inc, 2 sc] x 6 times (36 sts)
Round 7: Working in the BLO [5 sc, sc inc] x 6 times (42 sts)
Round 8-14: Sc in each st around (42 sts)
Round 15: [5 sc, sc dec] x 6 times (36 sts)
Round 16: [2 sc, sc dec, 2 sc] x 6 times (30 sts)
Round 17: [3 sc, sc dec] x 6 times (24 sts)
Put in your safety eyes. I put mine between rows 10 and 11, about 6 stitches apart. Stuff the amigurumi head with polyester stuffing as you decrease.
Round 18: [Sc, sc dec, sc] x 6 times (18 sts)
Round 19: [Sc, sc dec] x 6 times (12 sts)
Round 20: Sc BLO in each st around (12 sts)
Cut and fasten off. Stuff firmly.
Eyebrows
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with red yarn...
Row 1: Ch 17, hdc into the 3rd st from the hook, 6 hdc, [hdc, ch, hdc] into the same ch, 7 hdc (16 sts)
Cut and fasten off. Use the ends to sew it onto the head of the doll just above the safety eyes.
Arms (make 2)
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with red yarn...
Round 1: Magic Ring with a base of 6 sc (6 sts)
Round 2-3: Sc in each st around (6 sts)
Change to white...
Round 4: Sc in each st around (6 sts)
Cut and fasten off.
Legs and Body
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with black yarn...
Round 1: Magic Ring with a base of 6 sc (6 sts)
Round 2: [Sc inc x 2, sc] x 2 times (10 sts)
Change to brown yarn...
Round 3-4: Sc in each st around (10 sts)
Cut and fasten off the first leg.
Repeat rounds 1-4 to make a second leg. Do not cut or fasten off; instead, finish off with a Ch 1.
Round 5: Join the second leg with the first leg. 10 sc around the first leg, 1 sc along the ch, 10 sc around the second leg, 1 sc along the other side of the ch (22 sts)
Round 6: 4 sc, sc inc, 10 sc, sc inc, 6 sc (24 sts)
Round 7: Sc in each st around (24 sts)
Change to white yarn...
Round 8-9: Sc in each st around (24 sts)
Round 10: 6 sc, 6 sc around the first arm, 12 sc, 6 sc around the second arm, 6 sc (36 sts)
Round 11: [Sc, sc dec] x 12 times (24 sts)
Cut and fasten off. Stuff the amigurumi doll head with polyester stuffing and sew the body and the head together.
Shirt Collar
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with white yarn...
Round 1: Join yarn with a standing sc to the FLO front of the doll, Sc in each st around. Do not join the first st of the round (24 sts)
Cut and fasten off. Weave in the ends into the doll.
Tie
Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook with grey yarn...
Row 1: Ch 5, sc into the second ch from the hook, sc in each ch across (4 sts)
Cut and fasten off. Using the ends, fasten it to the body of the doll where the tie should go.
The Story Behind the Stitches
When I first made my Sadness and Joy amigurumi dolls, I honestly thought I was finished. Those were the only two emotions my 5-year-old had asked me to make, and I had no plans to make the whole Inside Out collection.
Then I started receiving emails and messages from readers asking if I would make the rest of the emotions. What really caught my attention, though, were the messages from teachers, parents, and therapists who work with autistic children.
They told me how they were using Inside Out as a way to help children learn and talk about their emotions. Several people specifically asked for Anger because they wanted a visual, hands-on way to introduce and discuss this sometimes difficult emotion.
That got me thinking about how useful these little crochet dolls could be beyond simply being tangible to point to, hold, and talk about. Inside Out also gives us a great reminder that even emotions that can be difficult to understand or manage have an important purpose.
So after a weekend of contemplating it, I impulsively decided, "Yeah, why not?" and started experimenting with yarn, and that's how Anger became the next addition to my Inside Out amigurumi collection!

Good evening, I just wanted to share a quick note with you, that I thought would be to long for a public post. But I just read you blog on developing a pattern for Anger from Inside Out. As I was making Sadness my 4 year old son instantly claimed her. Joy as well! My son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum in 2019 right at the beginning of the pandemic. He is predominant in Sensory Processing Disorder and some Speech issues. However, these past 2 week we have been working on "naming our emotions" so that we can better regulate how we feel. And as I said, while making Sadness I thought maybe this would be good for him if I made all the emotions so that he can better express his feelings or help regulate his meltdowns. Low and behold you were already a step ahead of me. So I say, thank you. Thank you for considering the emails and messages and taking time to develop these wonderful patterns. From a mother and advocate for my son with this disability, thank you for making these patterns!
Hello :) can you please tell me, where i have to begin with the row of the colour change? At the point "change colour to" in the pattern or in the row before? Kind regards
Hi Feliah! If you're doing the "half color change" method for a cleaner look, you would begin this method at the round before the actual color change.
Hi, is it possible to have the instructions how to sew the head to the body.
I'm not sure because we have 12 BLO on the head but the collar/body we finished with 24 stitches.

You can sew the body between the second and third round of the head if that really matters. I closed it more on the head so the stuffing will stay in the head and not travel to the body when played around with.
