Amigurumi Cinnamoroll Crochet Pattern

Updated on by

I made this Cinnamoroll plush thinking it would be a sweet birthday gift for my daughter's friend. Now, I'm probably going to have to make another one. Apparently, Cinnamoroll is a big deal in our house, and I didn't even know it!

Who is Cinnamoroll?

Cinnamoroll is a white puppy created by Sanrio, known for his long, floppy ears (which apparently let him fly?), round blue eyes, rosy cheeks, and a tail curled up like a cinnamon roll. He's shy, sweet, and gentle, the kind of character who instantly tugs at your heartstrings.

Cinnamoroll debuted in 2001 and quickly became one of Sanrio's most popular characters, especially with younger fans. Cinnamoroll lives in the sky and spends his days at Cafe Cinnamon, where he loves napping and helping out.

Why I Made This

I crocheted this Cinnamoroll plushie as a birthday gift for one of my daughter's friends; it was her favorite Sanrio character. I thought it would be a sweet present, and now my daughter wants one too! I made this Cinnamoroll amigurumi plushie using Hobbii's Honey Bunny yarn, a chunky chenille yarn. It worked out beautifully and measures about 4 inches in height.

Cinnamoroll has really become one of the breakout stars of the Sanrio universe among this generation, along with Kuromi and Pompompurin. Back when I was growing up, Hello Kitty was the face of Sanrio, and characters like My Melody, Pochacco, Keroppi, and Badtz-Maru filled the rest of the world.

While Hello Kitty isn't quite the it girl anymore, she's still the flagship icon, kind of like Mickey Mouse. Sanrio still centers a lot of its branding around her, and she's constantly being reinvented for new collabs and fashion collections.
