Amigurumi Doll Base Crochet Pattern CAL (Part 1: Materials)

Updated on by

Hello and welcome to my very first Crochet-Along!

I can't wait to share with you this adorable amigurumi doll base pattern. The reason why I decided to split this post into multiple posts for a crochet-along is that some parts are more complicated than others.

If you would like to purchase an ad-free PDF version of this crochet pattern, you can find it in my Ravelry Store.

I wanted to share additional photos of the more complicated parts of this crochet pattern, plus I think it would be awesome to see everyone's progress making this doll!

This is a great doll base crochet pattern... for multiple reasons! I love her size, especially the size of her head. I put pipe cleaners inside her body to help her neck be a bit more sturdy and her limbs poseable. My girls love her.

More recently, I've been slowly designing and making outfits for Mini Mimi. Soon enough, she'll have a full wardrobe of her own!

Stitches & Abbreviations

  • ch - chain
  • st/sts - stitches
  • sc - single crochet (I used the yarn under method which I will explain below)
  • sc inc - single crochet increase, 2 single crochets in one stitch
  • sc dec - single crochet decrease, single crochet 2 stitches together

Yarn Under Single Crochet Stitch

Yarn Under Single Crochet Stitch
  1. Insert hook into the next stitch
  2. Put the hook over the yarn (yarn under)
  3. Pull the hook with the yarn under it through the stitch
  4. With your yarn hand, wrap the yarn from back to front (yarn over) over the hook
  5. Draw the hook with the wrapped yarn through both loops on the hook.

And there you go! One (yarn under) single crochet completed!
