Assembly Instructions

  1. Fold the circle in half and stuff lightly. Don't stuff it too firmly because you still need to pinch the middle of the fortune cookie.
  2. Using the tail end that you did not cut off, slip stitch along the edges and make a semi-circle. Slip stitch through the crocheted fortune paper somewhere so that you don't need to sew it on afterward.
  3. This part is optional, but it helps hold the crocheted fortune cookie pillow shape a little bit better. I used some worsted-weight yarn and the mattress stitch to sew the pinch in the middle of the fortune cookie.

  1. Sew on the heart on both sides of the crocheted fortune paper. I used worsted weight to do this, so it doesn't show through.

Why I Made This Crochet Fortune Cookie Pillow

Some crochet ideas come from sentimental places. Others are just born out of curiosity. I don’t know why, but one day I woke up and thought, ‘You know what would be fun? A giant crocheted fortune cookie.’ So... I made one.

How to Crochet Fortune Cookie Pillow FREE Pattern

I knew I wanted to make this giant crochet fortune cookie with some plush chenille yarn, the kind that makes everything feel extra soft and squishy. But knowing how delicate chenille yarn can be when you're first experimenting, I started prototyping the idea with some cotton yarn first.

I've been watching a lot of artists and small business owners on YouTube recently sharing their behind-the-scenes, and felt inspired to start documenting my own journey as a crochet artist/designer. You can watch my behind-the-scenes vlog for creating this giant crochet fortune cookie on my YouTube Channel.
