Pattern Notes
- This pattern is written in US crochet terms
- Gauge: 9 stitches x 9 rounds = 2 inches (~5 cm)
- At Round 7, the circle should measure 3 inches (~7.6 cm) in diameter
- This hat can be made using either worsted-weight or bulky-weight yarn as long as you have the correct gauge. The bulky weight yarn creates a stiffer hat that holds its shape better.
- Use the Yarn Under Single Crochet technique to achieve tighter, more aligned stitches, which also creates a firmer fabric, so your hat can hold its shape.
- Crochet in continuous spiral rounds. Do not join at the end of each round unless otherwise stated.
- Use a running stitch marker to keep your place when crocheting in rounds.
- Use the invisible fasten-off method to create a smooth, knot-free edge that blends perfectly with your stitches.

Styling Suggestion
To achieve the iconic molded shape of a classic fedora, lift the hat slightly off your head and gently press the top front into a V-shape using both hands. Thanks to the hat's height and structure, it molds beautifully and holds its shape effortlessly while you're wearing it, giving you that timeless fedora look.

- Casual Chic: Pair your crochet fedora with a flowy blouse, skinny jeans, and ankle boots for an effortlessly stylish everyday look.
- Boho Vibes: Combine the hat with a maxi dress, layered necklaces, and sandals to achieve a relaxed bohemian aesthetic.
- Smart Casual: Elevate your outfit by wearing the fedora with a tailored blazer, fitted trousers, and loafers or heels.
- Festival Ready: Match the hat with a graphic tee, denim shorts, and combat boots for a trendy festival ensemble.
- Beach Day: Use the wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from the sun while wearing a swimsuit cover-up and flip-flops
- Autumn Layers: Coordinate the fedora with a cozy sweater, scarf, and knee-high boots for a perfect fall outfit.
- Monochrome Look: Create a sleek appearance by matching the hat color with your outfit, such as an all-black ensemble.
- Accessorize: Add a decorative band or pin to the hat for a personalized touch that complements your attire.
Inspiration and Why I Made This
It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters and make fun of our exes — Taylor Swift

I've liked Taylor Swift ever since Love Story first hit the airwaves, but it was the 1989 album that truly captivated me. Watching Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film with my kids, complete with bubbling hotpot over the winter, solidified our bond as Swifties.
One of our favourite moments was seeing Taylor gift her iconic "22" hat to a lucky fan each night. While attending the concert in person wasn't feasible, I felt inspired to recreate that special piece myself.
The original hat, a handcrafted 100% wool fedora by Gladys Tamez, has become synonymous with the Red era look. Inspired by this tradition, I decided to create my own version, a classic wide-brim crochet fedora pattern that captures the essence.

I designed the crochet version using single crochet stitches and bulky acrylic yarn, ensuring the hat holds its shape beautifully. This beginner-friendly crochet pattern not only pays homage to a memorable tradition at The Eras Tour but also offers a stylish accessory for any wardrobe.
