That's what she thinks when the truth is that more than half of us are actually crocheting to keep ourselves from choking people.
To be honest though, as someone whose main hobby is crocheting, I am unquestionably not worthy of being an adversary to Wednesday Addams. She'd kick my butt in 2 seconds -- I wouldn't even need piranhas!
The irony of that statement is that she wears handmade crochet pieces on multiple occasions throughout the first season of the show! And it's definitely got the crochet community talking.

Wednesday and Enid's Crochet Snoods
Prior to watching Netflix's Wednesday, I caught a glimpse of the above photo going viral among the crochet community. Everyone became obsessed when they saw Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Enid (Emma Myers) wearing crochet snoods behind the scenes.
To my surprise, the snood actually appeared in Season 1 Episode 5 when Enid gifted Wednesday the handmade snood as a birthday gift! And then, of course, they saved it to wear for a special occasion in the show.

Wednesday Crochet Checkered Sweaters
This crochet checkered sweater that Wednesday Addams wore in Season 1 Episode 5 was another one of those crochet pieces that popped into my social media feed before I even started watching the show. If you look at the middle screen capture carefully, you can tell that this piece is indeed a handmade crochet sweater.
Many crocheters were trying to recreate their own by using a crochet v-neck sweater as a base and recreating the checkered pattern. But I've found a couple of crochet patterns that might be of use to you.
In season 1 episode 7, Wednesday wore a different black and white oversized checkered sweater. However, this time around it's a knitted sweater. But don't fret, there are some very talented crochet designers that have already recreated this piece in crochet and you can find them in the links below.
Wednesday Crochet Collar and Cuffs
And while this one may not have gone as viral as the snood and the checkered sweaters that Wednesday wore on the Netflix hit, the crochet collar that appeared in the last episode of Season 1 has definitely caught the eyes of many makers.
Aside from the white lace crocheted collar, she was also wearing white lace crocheted cuffs on her wrist. I just wasn't able to get a good screen capture, but luckily there are inspired patterns for all of them.
My Favourite Wednesday Amigurumi Patterns
I've searched all through the web to find my favorite Wednesday amigurumi crochet patterns to include in this blog post. There are so many Wednesday Addams amigurumi patterns out there right now, but I've picked my favorites to share!
I want to think that we all have a little Wednesday inside of us. I just wish I could come up with witty comments on the spot rather than a day later. I know I'm not the only one whose eyes were glued to the TV when Wednesday Addams was on the dance floor. That scene was so weird and funny at the same time. I couldn't look away. I have to applaud Jenna Ortega for keeping a straight face through that scene!
While the above listing is not for a Wednesday crochet pattern (but for a completed Wednesday amigurumi doll), I still wanted to share it because it's beautiful! I loved that the crochet artist used fabric and lace to add detail to this doll's dress to recreate the gothic chic from the dance party.
If you're into kawaii, you should check this chibi version of Wednesday and Enid amigurumi dolls. While they're small, you can tell that the crochet artist put in the effort to add elements like the pinstripes to their Nevermore Academy uniforms.
I loved watching Wednesday and Enid's friendship evolve in the show. They're so opposites and while Enid was always so warm and fuzzy, she respected Wednesday and her space. Here's another amigurumi Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair crochet doll that I love.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Burton's Wednesday on Netflix. In fact, I found the show makes me think of X-Men and Harry Potter. What they refer to as "outcasts" in Wednesday were comparable to the gifted mutants in X-Men and witches/wizards in Harry Potter.
