Fuzzy and Simple Crochet Mittens Free Pattern

| Original: January 20, 2023

I am so in love with these handmade crocheted mittens! I have been wanting to make a pair of cozy mittens for a while now. I have so many projects in my head, I just wish I had more time to execute them!

If you've been following me for a while now, you probably know that I rarely make the same thing twice. But when you're making mittens, you have no choice!

Hobbii Yarn recently released a new line of yarn called Hobbii Friends. The Hobbii Friends collection has yarn from a variety of different qualities including everything from cotton, fine merino, kidsilk, 100% wool, and more!

The best part of the Hobbii Friends collection is that all the yarns under that label can be mixed and matched across qualities because they're made from the exact same color scheme.

They had a wonderful variety of colors to choose from, so I let the girls have at it and picked their favorite colors.

I am so used to using cotton yarn with a tight tension when I make my amigurumi projects, but when I want to make a pair of mittens that will keep little hands warm for winter, I went with the extra fine merino.

The extra fine merino has a nice squish to it, meaning that it actually creates a great stretch/elasticity for wearing. I particularly love the double-layered cuffs to these mittens!

I decided to pair it up with the same color in kidsilk to add some extra texture to it. I was concerned that the kidsilk might be a bit itchy on the back of their hands, but it didn't seem to bother them.

The kids love their mittens! I wish I could take credit for their giant pompom toques as well, but those were store-bought.
